Philip Morre lives in Venice, where he works as a freelance translator.
Philip Morre was born in London but has lived in Italy for the greater part of his adult life – initially in Florence, latterly in Venice, where he arrived more or less with the Euro. For nearly ten years (until 2013) he ran a secondhand bookship in the Ghetto, which the late John Julius Norwich kindly listed as the 10th (of 10) ‘must visits’ in the city.
A late starter in poetry, he published his first pamphlet in 2006. This has been followed by two full-length collections: The Sadness of Animals (San Marco Press, 2012) and the misleadingly titled Istantaneo di ippopotamo con banane / Snapshot of Hippo with Bananas (Internopoesia, 2019: Italian-English parallel text).
